The Youth Cattle Working Competition is a hands-on team event designed to test participants’ knowledge of cattle handling, Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) practices, and animal health procedures. Teams of three high school–aged youth will develop a cattle processing plan and work three head of cattle through a chute, demonstrating proper handling, safety, efficiency, and industry best practices.
Participation is limited to 15 teams due to time constraints, with one team allowed per county. Teams are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and counties may place additional teams on a waitlist if space becomes available. ALL team members must be AJCA members and hold a current BQA certification.
Entry deadline is Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:59 PM CST - no exceptions.
Registered teams should plan to attend the AJCA Spring Youth Field Day on Wednesday, April 1, at CK Cattle for a hands-on cattle working demonstration.
