Over the years, our region has experienced its share of drought, wildfires, tornadoes and hurricanes. As you read this, our neighbors to the west are experiencing the effects of a historical natural disaster, one called Hurricane Harvey. What started out as a tropical storm in the Gulf quickly turned into a category 4 hurricane with its cynical sights set on the Texas Gulf Coast. Since Aug. 25, more than 40 inches of rain has fallen in southeast Texas with an expected 10 more through Sep. 1. This means the region has experienced more than its yearly average of rainfall in a week's time, leaving cities under water, families evacuated from homes and cattlemen desperately pushing their herds to higher ground.

The Alabama Cattlemen's Association has a long history of offering relief to cattle producers who have experienced catastrophe. Cattlemen helping cattlemen is a story known all too well by Alabama beef cattle producers who have been on the receiving end of generous donations during times of devastation in our home state. That is why the Alabama Cattlemen's Association has opened a Hurricane Relief Fund through the Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation to raise money that will be donated to relief efforts relating to beef cattle production in southeast Texas.

Those interested in making donations can do so below or by mailing a check to:

Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation- Hurricane Relief Fund
201 South Bainbridge Street
Montgomery, AL 36104

All donations made through the ACF, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax deductible.

Remember to keep these ranch families in your prayers.
