Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation Scholarships

It pays to be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. Apply for one of our many scholarships and join hundreds of other students in becoming an Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation scholarship recipient.

Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation scholarships are funded by the purchase of the "Cowboy" vanity car tag and by private family donations. Purchase your "Cowboy" tag today and support Alabama's youth in the academic journeys. Special thanks to those who purchase the "Cowboy" tag and to the donor families. Cowboy Tag Scholarships


"Tagged for Greatness" Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be an incoming freshman at a 4-year college or university; possess academic and leadership excellence and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. *Note: The $1,000 award only applies to students attending a 4-year college or university. If the student opts to attend a 2-year college after the scholarship has been awarded, the scholarship amount will be $500.

Award: $1,000

"TAGGED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE" SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Student must hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher and maintain exemplary academic records. Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in agriculture or related fields. A letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or professor should accompany this application.

"TAGGED FOR Civic engagement" SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Student must hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher and display robust involvement in community service organizations. Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in agriculture or related fields. A letter of recommendation from a civic organization leader should accompany this application.

"TAGGED FOR Campus involvement" SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Student must hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate active participation and leadership in extracurricular campus activities or organizations. Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in agriculture or related fields. A letter of recommendation from a campus leader should accompany this application.

"TAGGED FOR Industry Involvement" SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Student must hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate motivation to pursue employment or active involvement within their field of study, outside of that which is required for academic credit. Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in agriculture or related fields. A letter of recommendation from an industry leader should accompany this application.

High School Attending 2-Year Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be a high school senior planning to enroll at a 2-year college; exhibit academic and leadership excellence and be a current member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $500

Two-Year Attending Four-Year Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be a junior college sophomore who will enroll at a 4-year college or university; possess academic and leadership excellence and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $1000

Outstanding Junior Cattleman Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be a high school senior planning to enroll at a 2- or 4-year school; be a member of the Alabama Junior Cattlemen's Association, involved in junior cattlemen/youth livestock activities; and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $1,000

Collegiate Equestrian/Rodeo Team Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be a competing member of a recognized equestrian/rodeo team at an Alabama college; exhibit academic and leadership excellence; and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $1,000

Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine Student Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be currently enrolled in Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Preference given to a student who has a strong background in Alabama's livestock industry and intends to practice large animal medicine.

Award: $1,000

Auburn University Department of Animal Science Graduate Student Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student in Auburn University's Department of Animal Science. Preference given to a student who has a strong background in Alabama's livestock industry and is working on a research project focused on beef or beef cattle.

Award: $1,000

MARTHA DAVIS SERVICE AWARD


ELIGIBILITY:

Must be a high school senior; exhibit oustanding leadership and community or volunteer service involvement and be a current member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years.

AWARD: $1,000

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 5, 2023


Trade School Scholarship


Eligibility:

This scholarship is available to students from Alabama who are accepted or currently enrolled in a trade school program in the state of Alabama. Applicants must be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Preference will be given to students seeking careers in the agricultural industry.


Award: $500

Agricultural Law SCHOLARSHIP


ELIGIBILITY:

Must be accepted or currently enrolled in agricultural law program at a qualified university and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Applicant seeks to practice agricultural law in the state of Alabama.

Rural Medicine Scholarship


ELIGIBILITY:

Must be accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited rural medicine program and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association for the past two consecutive years. Student plans to practice rural medicine in the state of Alabama. Preference may be given to students from rural Alabama.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

T WHIT & Mildred Athey SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be a current student studying Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University with an emphasis on large animal practice and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members for the past two consecutive years.

AWARD: $1,000

Ina E. Powell Memorial Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be an outstanding female high school senior; have at least a 3.0 GPA; enrolled at Auburn University with plans to graduate from the College of Agriculture, College of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, College of Human Sciences or College of Education; possess academic and leadership excellence; be involved in the cattle industry; and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $1,500

Cecil Lane Family Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be from Alabama; be an incoming freshman in Auburn University's College of Agriculture; have cattle industry involvement and leadership excellence; and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or have a parent/grandparent who has been a member for at least 2 consecutive years.

Award: $1,750

Harlice E. & Sara W. Kirby SCHOLARSHIP


ELIGIBILITY:

Must be a student attending a four-year university who is pursuing a degree in agriculture or education and has outstanding extracurricular involvement; have cattle industry involvement and leadership excellence; and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or have a parent/grandparent who has been a member for at least 2 consecutive years.

AWARD: $1,500

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 5, 2023


Ed Wadsworth Memorial Scholarship


Eligibility:

Must be a junior or senior animal science major at Auburn University; have at least a 3 .0 GPA;exhibit leadership skills; submit 750-word essay on past involvement and future career in the livestock industry and be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or parents/grandparents of the applicant must be current members for the past two consecutive years.

Award: $1,500

May and Ned Ellis Family Scholarship


Eligibility:

Student is from Alabama. Parents or grandparents are current members in good standing of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association for two consecutive years. An upcoming junior or transferring junior into the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. Must have a 2.5 grade point average.Scholarship may be awarded to the same student for a 2nd year if a 2.5 grade point average is maintained and the student remains in the College of Agriculture. Student has a good academic and leadership record and involved in extracurricular activities in their major. Preference will be given for financial need.


AWARD: $1,500

JOHN WILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


ELIGIBILITY:

Student is from Alabama and parents or grandparents are current members in good standing of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association for the last two consecutive years. Student plans to enter into an agriculture degree at a four year university and pursue a career in the beef cattle industry. Individual has a good academic and leadership record and involved in extracurricular activities. Preference will be given for those that plan to attend auctioneering school.

AWARD: $1,500

Butch & Lisa Smathers SCHOLARSHIP


ELIGIBILITY:

This scholarship is awarded to an Alabama resident who is entering or currently enrolled in a 4-year college; have cattle industry involvement and leadership excellence; plans to have a career in the cattle or meat industry. Must be a member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association or have a parent/grandparent who has been a member for at least two consecutive years. Preference given to students with work experience in a retail supermarket.

AWARD: $1,000
