Dr. Ed Richardson was recognized by the Alabama Cattlemen's Association
during the July 24th Summer Board of Directors meeting for his
outstanding service to agriculture while serving as president of Auburn
University. |
|
When Dr. Richardson was named Interim president in 2004, following a
successful career as the state's education superintendent, strengthening
the agricultural programs at Auburn University was one of his five
initiatives. Within a short time, Dr. Richardson was able to garner
support from industry as well as faculty to establish a Natural
Resources Development and Research Institute. This institute restores
many of the teaching, research, and extension programs in agriculture,
forestry, and wildlife sciences. |
|
One of the legacies that Dr. Richardson has left Auburn University is
the strengthening of its agricultural programs. This is no surprise to
those who know Dr. Richardson well as his roots run deep in agriculture
having grown up on a farm in rural Pike County. |
