The 16th Annual Beef Quiz Bowl Competition was held in Montgomery at the Alabama Youth Livestock Exposition.
The Tri-County 4-H Club (Monroe, Conecuh & Escambia) won the state championship in the junior age group (9 to 13 years old). The Tri-County team consisted of Chris Bell, Tanner Bosarge, Ali Congdon, and Jake Tucker. The team is pictured above with ALFA Beef Division Director Perry Mobley and volunteer leader Tim Tucker.
The Mobile County 4-H Club won the state title in the senior age division (14 to 18 years old). The Mobile County team consisted of Ellis Paul Rodgers, Josh Pickering, Jordan Nocon and Zoe Shields and was coached by Scott Skelton. The team is pictured above with Alabama State Veterinarian Dr. Tony Frazier.
Skelton was recognized during the competition for 15 years of service to the beef quiz bowl, a statewide event that was started in 1994 by Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson, Auburn University Beef Genetics Specialist.
