One of the most exciting
events of the rodeo is the Miss Rodeo Alabama Pageant.
Ellen Glasser of
Montgomery, Alabama, was crowned Miss Rodeo Alabama 2008 during the 51st Annual Southeastern Livestock
Exposition Rodeo at the Montgomery Garrett Coliseum.
Victoria Jeffcoat of Tallassee, was named Alternate Miss Rodeo Alabama 2008.
Ellen also won the speech contest for the senior division.
Garrett Hardee of Beatrice won Junior Miss Rodeo Alabama 2008
and won the speech contest for the junior division.
Other winners of the Miss Rodeo Alabama 2008 Pageant include Joy Coppock of Lowndesboro, won Senior Horsemanship
and Whitney Fray of Deatsville, won horsemanship in the junior division.
The 2008 MISS RODEO ALABAMA Pageant is sponsored by the
SOUTHEASTERN LIVESTOCK
EXPOSITION and is a part of the SLE Livestock and
Rodeo Week. The Pageant was held in two divisions, Miss
Rodeo Alabama, and Junior Miss Rodeo Alabama. |

The pageant took place on
Friday, March 7 beginning with the Horsemanship competition at 3
p.m. at the Garrett Coliseum and concluded Saturday morning with
the Pageant Competition with speeches and interviews at 8:00
a.m. at the Alabama Department of Agriculture / Beard building. |

GLASSER OF
COLUMBIANA IS MISS RODEO ALABAMA 2008

Ellen
Glasser of Columbiana is Miss Rodeo Alabama 2008.
Ellen is the daughter of Fredrick and Pamela Trumer.
Ellen is currently a freshman at Jefferson State
Community College. Once she receives her Associates
degree in Biology Ellen plans to attend Life University
to pursue a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After
establishing her career, Ellen plans to gain a
certification in Equine Chiropractic Care.
Ellen has two sisters who are 9 & 4. She has seven
horses, one dog and many more animals. She was
President of the Shelby County 4-H Horse Club and shown
and competed in the Southeast region. Ellen has also
competed and placed in 4-H public speaking both on the
state and regional levels. She has competed in many
Rodeo Queen contests since the age of three and have
held many titles including 2003 Junior Miss Rodeo
Alabama.
Ellen enjoys riding and showing her American Paint and
Quarter Horses. She also enjoys ballet, swimming and
traveling.
This fall, Ellen will
represent Alabama at the Miss Rodeo America pageant in
Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ellen plans on spending this year in promoting the
sport of rodeo, the Cattlemen and Beef Industry and the
State of Alabama. She is very thankful to her
family, Southeastern Livestock Exposition and the Cattlemen’s
Association for providing her the support and
opportunity to represent the sport of rodeo and the beef
cattle industry. |

VICTORIA JEFFCOAT – ALTERNATE MISS RODEO
ALABAMA 2008
Victoria is 20 and lives in Tallassee. Her parents are
Joe and Jo Ann. Victoria is currently a junior at Auburn
University and majoring in Business Management and will
graduate in Spring, 2009. After graduation Victoria
plans to obtain a Master’s Degree in Business
Administration and utilize her education as a
springboard into the world of finance. Victoria’s
aspirations are to become a bank President and one day
would like to become President of the Alabama
Cattlemen’s Association.
Victoria is a third generation cattleman and proud to
reside on her family’s Black Angus farm in Elmore
County. Victoria uses three words which best describe
her are patriotic, cheerful and highly motivated. She
has been riding and showing horses for many years and is
recognized on the campus of Auburn University by driving
her hot pink Dodge truck.
Victoria’s hobbies are diverse and range from deer
hunting to deep sea fishing. She also enjoys spending
time working with elementary children through the
Partner Program at Auburn University. Victoria is also
very active in her College and Career class at First
Baptist Church in Tallassee.
GARRETT
HARDEE –
JUNIOR MISS
RODEO ALABAMA 2008
Garrett is 16 and lives
in Beatrice. Her parents are Philip and Lynne Hardee.
Garrett is a Junior at Monroe Academy in Monroeville and
plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin to
pursue a career in dentistry and return to Beatrice to
manage her family cattle and horse operation.
Garrett is a competing member of the Alabama High School
Rodeo Association and National Youth Cutting Horse
Association. She is Student Government Association
President, Junior Class President, Junior Belles Service
Organization Secretary, Newspaper Editor and is the
Founder and Chairman of the Monroe County Teenage
Republicans Club. In 2007, Garrett received the Alabama
Music Teachers Association State Piano Superior Winner
award. She is a Graduate of the Junior State of America
Summer School at Yale University and Georgetown
University. Garrett also received 1st
Runner-Up in the 2007 Alabama Independent School
Association State Oratorical Contest. She also received
1st place in the 2007-2008 Monroe County
Senior High Beef Cookoff sponsored by the Alabama
CattleWomen’s Association and Alabama Beef Producers
Beef Checkoff program.
Garrett enjoys competing in cutting horse competitions,
working on her family farm, playing piano, cooking,
reading and sewing. She is involved in the Alabama
Junior Cattlemen’s Association, National Honors Society,
Monroe Academy Host and Hostesses, Tennis Team,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club,
Scholar’s Bowl Team, Beatrice Garden Club, a Charter
member of the Monroe Academy 4-H Club and is a member of
the Beatrice Community Church. |
